Navigating Holiday Schedules and Divorce

By Sarah Jacobs, Esq.

The holidays will soon be upon us! If you have a Marital Settlement Agreement, now is the time to pull it out, dust it off and start planning your co-parenting holiday schedule, so there are no last-minute surprises. Watch this week’s Just Because video where Sarah outlines tips on how to make your holiday time enjoyable for everyone.

Hi, and welcome back to this week´s episode of Just Because. Something that has been on my mind today is walking into a store and seeing it in late summer flooded with Halloween decorations. They are really starting to jump the gun. But it made me think about advanced planning, and today I want to talk about the fact that the holidays are going to be upon us very soon and one of the tips that I had for you today is start by planning yourselves. Stop reviewing your marital settlement agreement. Go through what the holiday schedule looks like through New Year´s Day and make sure that there is no conflicts between you and your co-parent any planned schedules or school vacations that you may need. If you are in the middle of the divorce process or even just starting, make sure that you bring that up to your attorney today and try to navigate the holiday schedule as much as possible. You want to make sure that you all enjoy it as much as you possibly can and that you are not fighting at the last minute over something difficult. Stay tuned for next week´s Just Because.
