They´ve reached an amicable resolution, that everybody is more satisfied with than having a trier of fact which is not necessarily familiar with their specific scenario ultimately decide their case.
My feeling and my experience has been that people who are involved in mediation leave, generally, with a more whole feeling from the divorce process than had they gone through the litigation.
